GHEENOE : 13′ HIGHSIDER
The 13’ Highsider is a small boat which offers users a lot of versatility. The Highsider begins with a rock-solid hand-laid fiberglass construction, forming out an impressively stable planing hull. The 13’ Highsider can take up to a 5hp engine, which pushes this Gheenoe with ease. This size is easily maneuvered through the tightest waterways, and can easily be paddled when the motor needs to be pulled up.
GHEENOE : 15’4 HIGHSIDER
The 15’4 Highsider is arguable the most popular Gheenoe we sell. This size is great for either one or two people fishing on the flats. With the rated 10hp engine, the 15’4 can move upwards of 16mph on a calm day, this boat absolutely flies in the water. Couple that with a solid, hand-laid fiberglass construction, and even more solid stability, you have a versatile flats skiff that can get you on a variety of water ways, whether with motor, trolling motor, or paddles.
GHEENOE : 15’6 CLASSIC
The 15’6 Classic gives you a slightly bigger Gheenoe than the Highsiders, but with a lot more horsepower, and a lot more available options, such as a poling platform to grant boaters an elevated position for scanning the flats. Rated for up to a 25hp engine, the Classic will get you to your favorite fishing spot extremely quickly.
GHEENOE : 16′ SUPER
The offers the greatest stability and speed out of the Gheenoe lineup. The 16’ Super is rated for a 40hp engine, and can be built with a center console, give boaters a Gheenoe that is closer to a flats skiff than a canoe. The 16’ Super comes standard with a selection of features from the factory, including: Low Front Deck, Front Pedestal Seat & Mount, Stainless Eye Bolt, Rod Holders, Electrical, Livewell Aerator, Front & Rear Lights, and Bilge Pump.
CUSTOM GHEENOE Series
Custom Gheenoe takes the spirit of the original Gheenoe, and adds a new flare. This company keeps it in the family, run by the grandson of the founder, at offers a selection of Gheenoe’s with an even heavier focus on flats fishing. Custom Gheenoe’s Lo-Tide series are wide, stable boats with impressively low draft. They also feature false floors, for easy moving through the boat, and plenty of storage for stashing all you gear.
CUSTOM GHEENOE : LOW TIDE (LT) 10
The LT10 improves upon the famous 15’4 Highsider hull, adding more flats fishing conscious additions. The LT10 has a false floor, and center storage console which allow for easy movement around the hull, and generous storage bow and stern. A smaller sized hull, this boat can be motored, paddled, or poled to your favorite spot on the flats.
CUSTOM GHEENOE : LOW TIDE (LT) 25
The LT25 blends the benefits of an ultra-shallow drafting canoe, with a traditional skiff, giving boaters a rock-solid, versatile, and spacious fishing platform. With a false floor, anglers can easy move around the hull. Storage is in not short supply with a center hatch, and bow/stern storage compartments on the raised decks. Outfitted with a 25hp motor, this hull skips over the water with ease, getting you to your favorite spot in no time.

How shallow can a Gheenoe go?
Powered by a 25-HP outboard with a center console this boat will go almost anywhere in water as shallow as 5” and get you to spots not many other boats can reach. To get it on plane you are needing about 15” of water.
Is a Gheenoe Stable?
Have you been in a Tippy Canoe? but not the Gheenoe, it is a tip-resistant canoe. The Gheeno is slightly wider than a regular canoe. The top of the sides of the canoe slant in instead of out, making the canoe much more stable. The squared-off end design also makes it possible to add a motor to the Gheenoe canoe.
The Gheenoe Story
I always loved to go fishing, especially in small rivers and shallow hard-to-get places. Most of the time, that meant going out in a canoe, which as we all know, can be very tricky and at times… very wet! Being a Tennessee man, I can tell ya the water can be pretty cold! It only took one flip, in Beaver Creek, on a cold winter day, to realize there had to be a better way. How could a fisherman get the remote access that a canoe provided and still get superior stability?
In the mid 1960’s, I was working as senior designer at the Kennedy Space Center. One day I came across the drawings of a boat I had sketched, many years before, when I worked as a draftsman, at Dempster Brothers, in Knoxville, Tennessee. With a few more years of design work behind me, I drew up a design that would not only be extremely stable but would allow the option of an outboard motor! I figured this would save my paddling arm for more fishing! The design also let me get into really shallow water which works out great when fishing the flats and marshes. In 1968, the Gheenoe (part Gheen – part canoe) was born.
In 1970, my beloved wife, Bobbie, and I decided that fisherman around the world needed to have access to this boat. It was then that I said good-bye to the great folks at Kennedy Space Center and started Gheen Manufacturing. My entire family poured “blood, sweat, and tears” into this project, ate lots of beans and taters, and now, after almost 4 decades, I’m proud to say… it was well worth it!
Has the Gheenoe ever been copied? You better believe it has! But the quality of the handmade Gheenoe family boats has never been matched! Oddly enough, most of the copy cats actually cost more than the original!
We now offer 4 models built here at our main facility. Two 120 pound Gheenoe’s, the 13′ and 15’4″ models, which are light enough to easily be put on top of a car or in the back of a truck. We have two wider and roomier Gheenoe’s, the 15’6″ Classic for the fisherman who wants a little more room, and the largest Gheenoe – a 16′ Super, available with stick steering or center console. The Super is considered, by many, to be the World’s Ultimate Flats Boat. There are two additional models being manufactured in the CustomGheenoe.com shop, across town, by my third son, “Pugar”.
